Greg Rekus, fresh off a western Canadian tour, is hitting the road again! This time he’s venturing towards the sun rise in eastern Canada. Teaming up with fellow solo folk punk guitar strumming mad man Jon Creeden, Greg and Jon will be out for almost 40 days travelling from the dirty streets of Winnipeg to the sunny shores of St. John’s Newfoundland and back again. The guys plan to conquer more then half the country with dates all over eastern Canada and tagging on a few additional mid western dates at the tail end of the tour. The tour is in support of Greg’s current release entitled Demo which is currently available at local indie music store in every major city in western Canada. The Album can also be purchased online at interpunk.com and mp3s can be bought through tunecore.com
Greg Rekus
Starting off 2011 with a Western Canadian tour, Greg Rekus played 17 shows in 20 days from Winnipeg to Vancouver Island and back again. Following that up, Greg is hitting the road to play in Eastern Canada for over 40 days with a show nearly every day. Armed with his first demo, 3 t-shirt designs, a guitar, and a 4 x 4 x 1 stomp box with tambourines mounted to it, he’s teaming up with Jon Creeden from Ottawa to play his heart out night after night. Live, Greg’s act can be described as punk rock meets outlaw country hooked up to a huge transformer to kick up the energy to 1.21 gigawatts. The lyrical content stretches from drinking in your favourite bar, to the friends you have, to quitting your job, political jousting, life in general, and then back again. All this when strumming the hell out of an acoustic guitar and stomping the beat out on his custom built stomp box.
Jon Creeden
Jon Creeden started his acoustic project shortly after he moved to Ottawa, playing he first show at end hits Dec. 6 2006. He has been lucky enough to open for Tim Barry (avail), Kris Roe (the ataris), and Nikola Sarcevic (millencolin), when each of them passed through town. Jon has tour across Canada and parts of the United States several time by grey hound and has eared quite the reputation from it. He can be seen around Ottawa during the school year playing at La Maison near Ottawa U Campus every other wed night.
