Might as well, 'cause this board is bored.
Rolled down with Brit's The Limit and Roxantidote, saw a whole whack of Sudburians while I was there.
Fucked Up
I've seen the band probably 20 times, but never at an outdoor event thing. They didn't play any older songs, which kinda bummed me out as I was hoping to hear Generation or Circling The Drain. They sounded good, and the new material is cool. Weird people in the crowd. Shit was sponsored by Monster energy drinks.
The singer from Sloan was standing behind me the whole time. Tyler H got pics while pretending to snap Will Stransky.
OFF!
My first time seeing them. Musically they were cool. Fast, loud, pissed off hardcore. Props to the sound guys at the show for making everything sound good even coming out of the huge speakers. Something about the band still bugs me, maybe its the allusions to Black Flag at every point. Keith Morris was in Black Flag, and sings in OFF!. Black Flag was an insecticide, Off is a bug spray. Black Flag put out "The First Four Years", off put out "The First Four EP's". Artwork is similar. We get it. The set was cool aside from Keith opening his mouth for between song banter that sucked. He also brought up being accused of child molestation by a parent in his neighbourhood...
Descendents
Finally got to see them after all these years! Milo took a bottle to the face early on but was a champ about it. They played pretty much every song I wanted them to play, and sounded as good as I expected them to. Anybody crowd-surfing or piling on up front by the barrier was grabbed by security and told to leave out the side. I got the boot about 6 songs in, but made my way back up front by the next song. So much push-mosh and body odor, I felt 14 again and loved it. There was a fight just to the side of the pit, and one dude pulled a knife and was promptly beaten down. Who the fuck stabs somebody while listening to "Hope" or "I'm The One"?
I left Toronto at about 1:15 am, made it to the Lick's near Parry Sound before I was too tired, so we pulled over and slept in my car using merch as pillows. Another fun road trip.
I DONT WANT TO GROW UP
