Ironically... this type of stuff is a large part of what I do for work... so i have some pretty decent experience... I would be happy to chair the first meeting... setup a structure or basic bylaws with reps/participants... together we can establish basic rules of order for the meetings... set a basic agenda that can be tweaked and you guys can elect a chair and vice chair for a one year term at the first meeting... this way business can flow on a monthly basis... think of me as an advisor/supporter of the scene... If we are serious... I will make some calls and inquire what is available for meeting space/times at the library for early January. Thoughts?

I think you'll have a hard time finding someone from Marymount. Seriously. Things may have changed since I've been gone but it seemed like the girls who went to shows all left when I graduated. Maybe whoever is left in charge of postering around ND or SS can put some up on the poles outside of MMA.

Let's book the meeting time, and over the next little while, we'll work on putting a meeting agenda together on here over the next little while. If the library is not available, I could also secure Myths and Mirrors.

The key thing would be that the meetings would have to be open for everyone. It wouldn't be as worth it if you couldn't go just because you weren't elected 'representative' or whatever. If anyone can go, and express their ideas and criticisms while the thing is still civil and moderated this could be one of the best things for Sudbury.

Sounds good guys! I will try for booking information this week and come back with possible dates... In regards to the comment about limited attendance... Please excuse the mis-interpretation... at no point was I ever suggesting that these meetings be limited to elected folk... the only reason we are going to elect anyone... is for there to be two people to chair the meetings (one main and one alternate)... down the road if we need a secretary/treasurer etc... we can look at that as required... their tasks will be mainly to stick to the agenda... and keep things flowing and in order... EVERYONE will be welcome at all points... this is meant to be inclusive... for all who wish to participate...

I think they are, I thought I read that Steve was looking into the library for a spot sometime in January? And if that doesn't work out Myths and Mirrors. It's getting close, maybe people should start posting things they'd like to see on the agenda when the time comes

-getting new people to attend shows - finding more all ages venues -music scene drop-in
i think these topics are pretty good considering that the meetings are right around the corner and they hit almost every level of what the music scene bases itself on and what it can amount to.

I think there should be someone who takes down notes and writes down things like topics and ideas that we're brought up at the meetings (nothing too detailed, just like a summery) and post it in a specific thread (that would be sticky) so that the people who couldn't attend the meeting for whatever reason can get a little caught up on what was said.
This specific person could be someone who will regularly attend the meetings and enjoys taking notes.
Just a thought.

Good call, I'm sure someone could bring a laptop in and take a few notes, or just write it down. It'd probably be a good idea to add them to the agenda for future meetings too.
